I knew almost immediately I wanted to go with a phoenix, and after a little while I decided to do a baby phoenix, as I have never done one before. I found the perfect reference photo immediately and took off. The hardest part of this entire piece? The dying embers in the ash.

The background is breathtaking. And the feathers on the phoenix were done so well. Some of them really look fluffy like a baby bird's should.

The photo I referenced this from was this cute little fluffy baby bird, so that's where the fluffiness came from. I think some of the background was referenced from that photo as well, at least the colors.
