Two by Two by Griffin-Fire
Two by Two
One of four covers I illustrator earlier this year for Premier, the school planner company I work for. This can be ordered by schools to use on their planners/agendas ("Two by Two" here:…).

I created a complicated technique for the requested “stained glass” look for this cover; about a month or two later I discovered a much easier, faster way to achieve the same result. Oh well! Now I know for next time… Always learning!
The Brain is Dead by Griffin-Fire
The Brain is Dead
Been a very long while, hasn't it? Well, here's something I made a few months ago for the annual work competitions. Brief background: summer is the busy season where I work (helping to make planners/agendas for students). To liven up the long overtime hours we team up and compete against one another. The first competition is a team poster.

This year I helped make the games, so I didn't actually participate in them. But would I let a little fact like that stop me from making my own personal poster? Of course not! ; )

"The brain is dead... Long live the brain!" Yep, that about sums me up every summer.

Can you find the following hidden items? Crow, whale, bird(s), fox, camera, knight, octopus, deer, plant(s), antlers, dragon (very hard). There's other stuff thrown in there for decorative purposes (vines, rays, tree rings, etc.). And a few quotes, three of them. If you can find them and name where they came from, congrats!

(P.S. Hey, I had a VERY hard time selecting a category for this. Might be the late hour. Any better suggestions? It's entirely digital, made up of textures and vectors.)

About Me and My Work

I received my DSLR in late November 2009. January 1st 2010 saw me embark on my first Project 365. Since then, I've completed three 365's and have started my fourth... with no days missed the whole while. No photograph classes - I've been learning as I go. I'm still learning, every day!

I like photographing nature most of all, though I also like capturing people's expressions in unguarded moments (when they forget there's a camera nearby). Recently I've experimented with abstract photographs and light paintings.

I also enjoy digital artwork. I like painting everything from people to animals to mythical beings. I'm currently working on a graphic novel I hope to start posting at the beginning of 2014. The only things I will not paint are things that would require a mature filter, which to me includes any kind of violence, nudity, and other similar themes.

I hope you enjoy your time here. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. I value your feedback and opinions.
Well, technically we've been in 2014 for a month now. But since I haven't written a new journal post in well over a year, I thought it might be a good time to start over. What better time for new beginnings than the start of a new year?

How are you, my watchers? I haven't been so active on here as I'd like to be, so I've fallen out of touch with a lot of you. How are things now? Share some of your newest deviations with me. Tell me what you've been up to.

Many of you started following me when I submitted solely digital artwork.  Over the past few months I've been sharing more and more of my photography. Any thoughts on the change? My interests have changed considerably over the past few years, and while I still enjoy creating artwork, I'm more interested in furthering my photography.

But I also want to be a more active member of this online community. Over the past few days I've discovered quite a number of incredible artists that I'd never seen before. I know there are others out there that I would admire if I knew they were there. Know of some? Please, share them with me!

I used to do features through my journal - I hope to start that back up again. I already have a few in mind, but if you have any suggestions (some of your own, or someone you admire), share them with me too :) I'll make a final decision on what to include by the end of the month.

I think that's about it for right now. Talk to you soon!
